We believe that each survivor knows what decisions are the safest for them. We know that each survivor’s situation is different and follow their lead on what they need to do to keep themselves and their children safe from an abuser. Sometimes a survivor may feel the safest thing they can do is stay with an abuser. At other times, a survivor may have a step-by-step plan to flee that they are ready to put into action. No matter where someone is in this process, talking and safety planning with an advocate may be to your benefit. An advocate can be reached 24 hours a day, 7 days a week through our crisis line at: (503) 399-7722 or call toll free in Oregon 1 (866) 399-7722.
Often a safety plan consist of thinking about worse case scenarios and thinking about beforehand what you would do in those situations.
